Kos Island-Nisos Kos(Greece)1

                                      Hello Travellers!🌞
Today,i will share my experiences with you about Kos island.
Firstly, let's talk about the general information of island.
Kos is around 30 minutes to Bodrum,Turkey by ferry. From a big part of the island, you can easily see Turkish coast.

It's also very close to Kalimnos island which is famous for its sponges. And also you can easily see Pserimos island from Tigaki coast. You can visit these islands from Kos by daily tours. You can find those boats at island's coast, opposite the taverns.Prices are around 20-32 €,but might be changed by new season.

We decided to go to Kos island suddenly, with my friend. We were thinking to travel an island which is close to Turkey, but we didn't know where to till last munite. We thought about Samos,Mytilene,Chios,Rhodes and Kos islands and it was really hard to choose one of them.
We made a research about these islands except Chios and Samos because we've visited them before.Suddenly we decided to go Kos island because it was almost the end of september and Kos island would be a bit more crowded than other islands. And we saw that we were right about crowd. It was crowded enough to be there.

We took on a bus from Ä°zmir to Bodrum. It took around 3 hours. We've booked a small hotel-which is not so far to the port-when we were on the way.We arrived to Bodrum's bus station and walked to the hotel. It took around 10 minutes.Bus station in Bodrum is very central. You can find small busses which are going to other parts of Bodrum at this station. We left our bags to room and went out to have a dinner. We spent a night in Bodrum and then we left by ferry in the morning.
It took around 30 minutes by fast ferry which is 32 € for around trip ticket. We went to our hotel after passport control.Hotel was close enough to the port.It took around 5 minutes on foot.
Hotel Catherine was really nice.It was 90€ for 3 nights and 2 adults, included breakfast and a room with sea view.Receptionists were really kind and helpful. And our room was very clean.
We were thinking to rent a scooter to discover the island and we did it by receptionist's help.He showed us different companies' booklets and we choosed the best for us.PowerXtreme Rentals made a transfer from our hotel to their office by car.Scooter for 3 days included insurance was totally 55€.We've signed the papers and then our adventure has begun.
We went to Paradise beach which is at Kefalos area by scooter. It's the most famous beach in this island as local people said. Some people said it's not possible to there by scooter but we did it.So you also can do the same.It takes around 20-30 minutes and you have to follow the way of airport from the center. After airport, you can easily find the way of Paradise beach. It's a bit far from center but it's worth to go there definitely.
It's completely sand and not much deep.Water is very clean and there was almost no wave.We understood why people recommended us this place after arrived. You can also do watersports there if you are have interest. There are lots of sunbeds. You can easily find a place for you. There is also a café/restaurant at the top and a park place for your cars or scooters.
We enjoyed the sun and water for 2 hours.I would like to visit this place one more time.It was a very nice experience to be there for me.We also met with an Italian couple. They waited our bags while we were swimming. Some people are coming and offering massage or selling some key chains. They were also friendly and they didn't insist to buy.
We rode to our hotel to take a rest. Then we went out for dinner. There were not any restaurants in my mind.So we decided to go random. We saw Mesogios Restaurant on the coast and had our dinner there.Food was very nice.We ordered steak and Greek beer.It was around 15 € per person.Waiters were very kind and friendly.
After a nice dinner,we walked a bit around the coast and Eleftherias Square. Then we went to bars street at night. It was not so crowded but was okay for september.Prices are not expensive at bars in general.People are very kind. You should definitely visit this street and a bar over there. You will enjoy your night for sure.

Next day we woke up late and we had to have breakfast outside. We went to Everest to have breakfast. It's definitely a nice place for breakfast and coffee. You can find it almost everywhere in Greece.
From Everest,we rode to Tigaki Beach because we wanted to discover new places on the island.Repeating same things are usually boring for short trips.
Tigaki Beach is very long and and there are many sunbeds. Also there are so many cafés and restaurants,so never worry about being hungry.Prices are also cheap and some sunbeds are free. Also wi-fi connection is available at most of the cafés.
Water is very clean and it's not very deep.Your view while taking a rest or swimming will be Turkish coast on the right and Pserimos Island on the left.
Half of the way is normal but the other half is a bit narrow. But i can say that it is safe.Just be careful about busses. You will see the fields and there are some small shops which are selling their own products such as tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers etc.You should definitely visit them. And there is a lake behind the way at the Tigaki. It's way is not so good but it's worth to see.We really enjoyed Tigaki Beach. It's advantage is being not so far to center of the island.
Last day we wanted to visit Therma Beach which is famous for its hot water in the sea.We headed to Therma,it's also not so far from center. You should follow the way of Kos Marina. The view was amazing. Most probably you will stop often and will take photos of view.Be careful, because Therma is the last point on the way and you will see that if you check the map.
You can park your car or motorbike at the top and you have to walk down for beach or you can take a donkey in the season. There was no donkey in september i guess it's because end of the season. It's easy to walk down but it may feel very tiring to walk back to the top.But it's worth to visit this place. As you see,the stone part is the source of Thermal(Hot) water. But it's mixing with cold water and if you stay between hot and cold water, you will definitely enjoy it.It looks like a very nice place to relax. Before walking back to the top,you can take a rest at the café and gain your energy back by drinking some fresh juice. We did it and it worked.
There is also a beach that we've visited, called Marmari. But we didn't spend so much time over there. We just drove and saw the ambience of the place and left. It's also on the way of airport. You just should follow the signs carefully. It was also looking like a nice place but i didn't take any photo so i'm not able to show you.You just can Google it.
Basicly the main point you will visit everyday on the island is Eleftherias(Freedom) Square.Every way will take you this place. There is Defterdar Mosque which is still surviving for years from Ottoman Empire. There is a church and you should also see it,it's garden is really beautiful. And there is Dimotiki Agora(Public Market). You can see spices,Ouzos, souvenirs, olive oil, natural sponges from Kalimnos Island etc.And there are cafés under the buildings. You can smell spice before entering the market. If you like spices, this smell will take you there.
That was all about our journey. You will able to see more detailed information at my next article.I will tell you shortly what you must do and see in Kos Island. If you ask my opinion, you should seperate more than a day for this island.Daily trips will not be enough to discover the island and it's soul.If you have questions, just leave a comment. Thanks for reading.
