Samos Island-Greece 1

Hi Travelers !

Today i will share my trip to Samos Island or Nisos Samos (in Greek) in 2012.I know it's been long time to talk about it,but i wanted to share my experience with travelers.
It will be nice to talk about this trip after 5 years for me.

Samos-Vathy:
Vathy is the main city of Samos Island.It was the first place that we've reached by ferry,on this island.From Kuşadası/Turkey,it takes 90 minutes to arrive Vathy port,by ferry.As far as i know,there is also a new line to Pythagorio from Kuşadası which is shorter by time.

We spent 3 wonderful days in this island.First day,we discovered Vathy and it's back streets.On the second day we went to Pythagorio by public bus.Pythagorio was also a good experience for us.
We were ready at Kuşadası Port very early in the morning,to do our check-in.It's always to go there early because,it's usually very crowded.After passport control,our trip has begun.

After 90 minutes,we've arrived the port of Vathy.It was amazing to see the island closer.If the weather is nice,you can see the island from Kuşadası,even at night with lights.

We had no reservations.If we wouldn't find a place to stay,we would sleep on the beach.We went to Hotel Samos to ask the prices.It's the first hotel you will see when you arrive to Vathy because it's in front of the port.

We stayed there for 2 nights.The price was around 65 € per night for room.We had two single beds.And included breakfast even we couldn't wake up for it.

After a short rest,we wanted to see the coast,square and other streets of island.It was not crowded enough in the afternoon because of siesta time.Most of the shops were closed.But cafés and restaurants were open.

And we bought telephone cards to be able to call Turkey.It was around 4 €.Then we went to have some cold drinks.

It was a mistake to go out in the afternoon indeed.But we wanted to spend our time well.

We had to go our room for some hours till sun let us go to the beach.

We bought some drinks and food from kiosk and went to our room.

Then we went to the Gakgou beach.We wanted to go there because it was so close to hotel around 5 minutes by walking.

It was a good choice for us.We had a good time there after a sweltering afternoon.

You can buy Pythagorean cups from shops as souvenir.It's the most famous things as far as i see on my trip.Or you can buy some books about Greece,postcards,key chains etc.

If you want to rent a car or scooter,there are many offices around port and square.Prices are changing by seasons.But if you are 2 people,scooter will be enough for you.

What about food? If you want to have a good dinner,you can find resturants on the coast.We went to Artemis Taverna by receptionist's advice and it was definitely good.We really liked the food.It's location is not so far to port.
